Lucius had a privilaged birth and an even more privilaged youth. Born into a family of old wealth he was given all that his heart desired, but at a price. He was able to have any material thing he wanted, but he was not given love as it was believed to be a sign of weakness. His parents were firm followers of the dark wizard, Grindelwald; and believed that their own child had the ability to be as powerful if not more than him. Lucius was driven by ambition and his parents to become as powerful as possible. When either of them felt that he had failed them their punishment was violent and swift. He was raised to believe that under no circumstances were Halfbloods or Muggles considered equals or even worth living.

As a boy Lucius enjoyed seeing the pain of others. He would often abuse the house elves that served his family and many times would hurt small animals or smaller children enjoying the feel of control and power. He was considered a bully, and often when he couldn't do the intimidation himself he would surround himself with larger characters who were dumb enough to do his bidding. Even at a young age, Lucius was manipulative and had a way of getting the big and stupid ones to do what he wanted. He gave them a sense of belonging, even if it was a ruse. His favourite croneys where and still are Crabbe and Goyle. Lucius finds it amusing that their sons act in much of the same fashion for his own son, Draco.

His assignment into Slytherin was not a surprise to anyone, and was highly looked upon by his parents. While in Hogwarts he was secretly studying the Dark Arts, and during his school holidays his parents ran a strict curriculum of Dark Arts lessons. It was during his years at Hogwarts that he was introduced to Lord Voldemort through his parents. Lucius able to see power at a glance quickly fell in with Voldemort, and became one of his inner circle; as he shared not just his lust for power but his taste for torture and abuse. Lucius received the dark mark in summer of his fifth year at Hogwarts and became one of Voldemort's most active supporter.

When Lucius left Hogwarts is parents insisted that not only he marry, but immediately bring an heir to continue the Malfoy name. When his parents would arrange a marriage they had a stipulation, the bride-to-be must be pregnant with a Malfoy heir. Lucius was engaged two times and each time neither girl could produce a child. Unable to believe that it could possibly be Lucius' fault they continued on their search to fine Lucius a suitable mate. The third time was the charm, as his third fiance Narcissa Black conceived within six months of their arrangement. They were then married and Narcissa gave birth to a boy on June 5, 1989. He was named Draco Phelan Malfoy.

A year later Voldemort was defeated when he tried kill James and Lily Potter's child, Harry. Voldemort went into hiding, and was believed by several to be dead. Lucius who's main interest is himself knew that he would soon be implicated in his activities as a Death Eater and told the powers that be that he was under the Imperius Charm and that he wasn't acting of his free will. Having escaped punishment Lucius ran his families company and gave large amounts of money to the Ministry of Magic and charities to establish himself as a benefactor of the Wizarding world; in reality the money he gave were generally bribes to be able to have more power and gathering various poisons and dark objects that he keeps in a secret room in his manor.

When Voldemort was reborn, Lucius heeded his call and was at the graveyard when he dueled with Harry Potter. Unfortunately, Potter got away. The next year Lucius along with Bellatrix and Rodolphus Lestrange led an attack on the Ministry of Magic to try and retrieve the prophesy ball that told of the defeat of Voldemort. During that attack Lucius was arrested and sent to Azkaban to the displeasure of Voldemort. It was in 2005, that he was released in a special deal that quite a bit of galleons bought him. He is allowed to stay at Malfoy Manor, but he is under the watchful eye of Aurors. He is allowed to leave the house on business and when it comes to the education of his son. Luckily, Malfoy Manor is unplotted and he has been able to go into the surrounding forest to aparate to the Death Eater stronghold when needed. Lucius has yet to have a private audience with Voldemort since he's been released from prison.

Lucius and Narcissa's relationship is tenuous at best. Recently Lucius has taken up with Narcissa's sister Bellatrix who he seems to have more in common with. Lucius believes that his son is a failure and was made weak by Narcissa's rearing.

Personality

Lucius public persona is of a smooth shmoozing business man who gives generously to many charities and serves on boards of many huminatarian groups. In reality he is a person who believes that he is better than everyone, and in some ways untouchable. He is extremely insecure, he is scared mostly by the thought that he has upset Voldemort and his life is in peril, but he hides this through a hard veneer of intimidation and violence. His main goal in life is to be secure in his standing, not just financially but his own safety; so much so that he will sacrifice anything and anyone to have it.

Cold and uncaring, he treats his family as if they are a nuisance and not worth his time. He has been known to lose his temper and strike out both verbally and physically to his wife, Narcissa and his son, Draco; yet he is smart enough to never mark them. In public he insists that they are the pillar of society; polite, influencial and portray the perfect aristocrat family.

Lucius believes that Muggles are akin to animals and should be treated as such. He believes that Halfbloods and 'blood traitors' should be exterminated by the most painful means possible. An interesting fact is that though the thought of Muggles and Halfbloods disgust him, he has no issues with acting out his sexual desires with them. In fact at times he prefers to have sex with Muggles because it adds a depth of deprevity that he enjoys and gets off on. He has been known to participate in rough sex, with him being the dominate partner.
